Travel retailers offer outlook for upcoming year

Travel Weekly asked a variety of travel retailers -- including Chris Russo, owner of Travel Partners and ASTA president and CEO; Michael Batt, chairman of Travel Acquisitions Group;, and Scott Koepf, president of the National Association of Career Travel Agents -- how they view the upcoming year and economic challenges. "As an agency owner, my challenge will be to find more creative and cost-effective ways to promote our services and to keep my wonderful staff intact while revenues are down," said Russo. As ASTA president, Russo said he is concerned that state governments may try to collect additional taxes from the travel industry.
