Envoy: U.S. should seek alternatives if Senate fails to pass climate bill

Key U.S. climate envoy Jonathan Pershing is "optimistic" that the Senate will approve legislation to fight global warming in the first half of 2010. "We will have to see how it plays out and we will have to start working on alternatives if it doesn't happen," he said during a conference at the Center for Strategic and International Studies.
