Reports: Government pressures JAL on alliance pick

Japan Airlines is feeling government pressure to jump to Delta Air Lines and the SkyTeam alliance, according to Japanese media reports. Officials reportedly believe that Delta's robust network within Asia and across the Pacific would offer the most benefit to JAL, which saw its stock drop 81% on Wednesday in anticipation of a bankruptcy filing. But rival American Airlines says its talks with JAL are continuing, and the Japanese government insists that the carrier will pick its own alliance partners.
