Retail's "Armageddon" is over, liquidator says

Last year was "Armageddon" for retail chains, but those days are over, said James Schaye, CEO of Hudson Capital Partners, a retail liquidator. Retailers that last year simply would have disappeared when they got into trouble today are acquired by opportunistic or strategic investors, he said. With the arrival of the more optimistic sentiment, lease renegotiation has picked up, which has been good for retailing, Schaye said.
