Some teachers in Texas say lessons about civil rights and the life of Martin Luther King Jr. are taught throughout the school year, and do not necessarily coincide with the holiday marking King's birthday. While some educators craft lessons in January ahead of the holiday, others say the subject is taught during Black History Month in February or later in the spring as part of a unit on the civil rights movement.
