England seeks to raise standards for school-governing bodies

The Department of Education in England has released new guidelines that would require school-governing bodies to be modeled after corporate boards -- permitting to join only those who have the skills and experience necessary to raise school standards. The guidelines call for governing bodies to include those who have experience with data, budgeting, performance management and employment issues.
