Teacher quality commission calls for more excellence in teaching profession

A commission headed by former IBM Chairman Louis V. Gerstner is calling for stricter certification standards and more recruitment of top college students into the teaching profession. The commission found college students with low scores on college admissions tests were twice as likely to have majored in education as their top-scoring peers.
