Financial climate leads to uncertainty over textbook funding

The state of the financial markets has led the Texas Board of Education to worry that lawmakers could cut a $900 million request for new textbooks from the upcoming fiscal year's budget. A school board member said she was particularly concerned about the need for $273 million for textbooks for elementary school students.
