New York charter school teachers could join union

Teachers at two New York charter schools plan to join the United Federation of Teachers, saying the decision was based on the demands of their jobs and their desire to have more input within their schools. "We have often said that the charter school movement and unionization are things that can easily be harmonized," said Randi Weingarten, the president of the union. "They saw that the way they get their voice and have input is through collective bargaining."
