Treating "triad of death" saves trauma patients' lives

Understanding the causes and connections of the so-called trauma triad of death -- hypothermia, acidosis and coagulopathy -- can help nurses prevent the deadly syndrome in ED patients. Nurses can have an especially big impact on preventing or limiting hypothermia, which, when coupled with trauma, is the gateway to the triad.
