Airline costs decline for third straight quarter

U.S. airlines saw their costs drop in the third quarter, representing the third consecutive quarter of declining costs, according to the Air Transport Association. The ATA's Airline Cost Index for the third quarter was 36% lower than the same period a year ago, following declines of 31% in the second quarter and 20% in the first quarter.
