Analyst: U.S. car-market recovery to boost chemical earnings

The chemical industry is expected to increase its earnings in 2010 and 2011 as it benefits from the rebounding U.S. auto industry, a Citigroup analyst said. Every U.S.-made automobile requires about 331 pounds of plastics and uses an average of $2,700 worth of chemical products, according to the American Chemistry Council.
