Artificial pancreas for Type 1 diabetes is in development

The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation said an artificial pancreas prototype for patients with Type 1 diabetes could be ready in four years. The foundation is partnering with Johnson & Johnson's insulin pump division to develop a system that would combine existing pump therapy and continuous glucose monitoring technology with computer algorithms to maintain proper blood sugar levels.
