Israelis crack 3G "Kasumi" code using only a PC

Code crackers have broken the Kasumi encryption on GSM phones, according to a paper the three cryptographers released this week describing how they solved the code's entire 128-bit key. The Israeli-based researchers used only a dual-core Intel PC in their attack on the code that is commonly used to encrypt 3G-based networks.
