SEC will trade immunity for information on wrongdoing

Witnesses who provide vital information to help the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission with its investigations will be offered immunity, said Robert Khuzami, the SEC's enforcement director. He said he hopes the policy will encourage corporate insiders to come forward. "There is no substitute for the insider's view into fraud and misconduct that only cooperating witnesses can provide," Khuzami said.
