GM's viral Sonic video continues to affect marketing strategy

In late 2011, GM released a video of its newest subcompact model, the Sonic, doing a kick-flip. The video went viral online, particularly with young adults, and then the model became the top-selling car in its segment for 2012, with almost 30% of the Sonic's buyers under the age of 30. As a result of the Sonic campaign's success, GM is now focusing on developing a multichannel campaign for the redesigned Chevrolet Corvette.
