Mondelez method hides menthol's bitterness

Mondelez International is seeking patent protection for a vitamin E compound it says counters bitterness in chewing gum and other products with menthol. "Confectionery products containing menthol can have a bitter or unpleasant off-note taste that adversely affects the overall flavor of the product," the company said in its patent application.
