Marriott Hotels' Autograph Collection eyes hotels that have authenticity, and want to provide guests with more than a place to stay. "You know, there's such a demand for those hotels that offer a level of enrichment that brings in the local flavor and cultural aspects of a community," said Amanda Altree, the senior director of brand marketing at Marriott International. She says there aren't a lot of competitors that are building brand equity in the individual hotels instead of a whole portfolio.
