Partnership aims to sequence DNA in search for treatments

Biotechnology company Regeneron Pharmaceuticals is partnering with Pennsylvania's Geisinger Health System to sequence DNA from about 100,000 volunteers. They hope the study will lead to the development of new drugs and better patient care. "As far as I'm aware, it's the largest clinical sequencing undertaking in this country so far by a long shot," said Dr. Leslie G. Biesecker, head of the genetic disease research unit at the National Human Genome Research Institute.
