Sarasin: Food retail rides Toffler's waves of human development

The food industry has adapted and moved forward through all three of futurist Alvin Toffler's waves of human development: the agricultural age, the industrial age and the information age, FMI President and CEO Leslie Sarasin said at the Midwinter Executive Conference. The industry, which has expanded in the information age to creatively connect with consumers and partners using Big Data, might be entering a fourth age of nostalgia. The FMI Connect conference in June is expected to focus on how industry leaders can continue to adapt, Sarasin said.
