Scientists look for link between injection wells, earthquakes in Texas

A series of earthquakes in the town of Azle, Texas, prompted local officials and seismologists to investigate whether the tremors were triggered by injection wells in the vicinity. In November and December, more than 20 quakes were recorded in the area, which has five active wells nearby. Researchers from the U.S. Geological Survey and Southern Methodist University are collecting data through seismic monitors installed around the area. They said the results of the study could be available by April.
