In Iraq, Baathist teachers press for return to jobs

A new "de-Baathification" policy administered by the Iraqi Governing Council is allowing low-level members of Saddam Hussein's Baath Party to appeal their dismissal from their jobs or apply to receive a state pension. Coalition officials expect many teachers who originally joined the party just to receive monthly pay bonuses will be successfully reinstated.
