Congress could offer as much as $20B for health IT

Numbers released from the House Appropriations Committee indicate that Congress is close to committing to a $20 billion investment in health care IT as part of the economic-stimulus package. Supporters say that while the funds will be incentives for IT adoption, the measure should also promote effective usage, such as measures for connectivity and data exchange and EHR-based quality reporting.
