Course fees regulated, reduced in Maryland district

Following a protest from parents angry that they had to pay for items such as art supplies and computer disks, Montgomery County, Md., officials have announced new regulations concerning those fees in the district's schools. The new regulations reduce the fees for secondary schools -- which parents say can add up to several hundred dollars if you have more than one child in the school system -- by between 60% and 70%.
