Friendly skies will offer Wi-Fi service this year

United Airlines will use Aircell's Gogo service to enable passengers to connect to the Internet during flights later this year via Wi-Fi links at a charge of $12.95. The airline said users should be able to reach speeds similar to 3G data services AT&T and Verizon Wireless offer, but the company will bar VoIP calls.
