West Palm Beach convention hotel still years away

West Palm Beach, Fla., can expect to have to wait at least four or five years before it sees a new hotel at the Palm Beach County Convention Center, officials say. The hotel plan has been in the works for four years, but the plans hit the skids following a corruption investigation of former County Commissioner Mary McCarty, who was accused of taking free resort rooms from Ocean Properties before and after the company was awarded a $100 million contract to develop the hotel, and officials say it will take time to select a new developer to design and build the project.
