Animal advocates ready to aid in Haiti rescue efforts

Animal health and welfare groups are closely following response and recovery efforts in Haiti to determine if and how they can participate with animal-rescue operations. "As always with disasters like this, the humanitarian rescue efforts will be the focus in Haiti for the first week or so. However, veterinarians are on standby to assist with the tragedy," the AVMA says on its Web site.
