Report: U.S. REITs outperformed other equities over last decade

NAREIT released a report showing U.S. REITs performed better than other investment classes for the decade ended Dec. 31, 2009. According to the study, people who invested $10,000 in the FTSE NAREIT Equity REIT Index at the beginning of the decade would have ended the decade with $27,454. By comparison, $10,000 invested in the S&P 500 at the same time was worth $9,090 at the end of last year.
