L.A., Chicago programs boost diabetes care in poor areas

Disease management programs for patients living in low-income areas of Los Angeles and Chicago are showing benefits, researchers reported in Health Affairs. Two programs in Los Angeles helped patients attain lower hemoglobin A1C ranges and blood cholesterol levels. Early results from a diabetes management program in Chicago also suggests positive results.
