When you check in with your star employees every month or so, you need them to explain what isn't working and what they are doing to address the issue, writes Chris McIntyre, author of "The Roadmap to Freedom." They should also explain what they need you to do to help them move forward. "Without fail, one of the questions the best leaders consistently ask is 'Where do you need my help?' " he writes.
