Fla. pilot recognized for safety

George Karamitis of Avon Park, Fla., will be recognized with the Master Pilot Award at this year's U.S. Sport Aviation Expo in Sebring. Karamitis began his career as a child in a J-3 Cub and later flew in the U.S. Navy and for Trans World Airlines, while staying active in general aviation. The Federal Aviation Administration presents the award to pilots who have maintained a safe flying record for 50 years.
