N.Y. roofing firm faces fines for fall-protection violations

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration has levied fines of almost $160,000 against New York roofing company A.M. Stern for violations of fall-protection and other workplace-safety rules. The company faces a penalty of $140,000 for exposing workers to fall hazards and not using a safety monitor properly at its job site in Fairport in July last year, along with fines of nearly $20,000 for other violations.
