Doctor gets 30 years for health care fraud, illegal drug distribution

Robert Ignasiak, a physician from Freeport, Fla., was sentenced to 30 years in prison for health care fraud, illegal distribution of controlled substances and failure to appear for trial. Ignasiak was first indicted in 2008 for openly prescribing highly addictive prescription drugs in combinations and dosages that led patients to abuse and become addicted to the medications, resulting in several deaths. Ignasiak was arrested in September 2013, a year after faking his death to avoid a retrial, this article says, and pleaded guilty in October.
