Is enthusiasm for online courses waning among academic leaders?

Enrollment in online college courses reached an all-time high of 7.1 million students, but enthusiasm for the classes may be waning among higher-education leaders, according to a new survey. Last year, 65.9% of academic officers said online education was a critical component of their long-term strategy, down from 69.1% in 2012, the survey showed. Researchers, however, said the drop could be attributable to the participation in the survey of officials at schools without online courses.
