Google's Chrome browser compresses data by up to 50%

Users of Google's Chrome browser for Android and iOS can now consume up to twice as much data per month for the same price thanks to a compression feature under Chrome's latest upgrade for smartphones and tablets, which includes several new features and fixes. Google, which is rolling out the upgrade on iTunes and Google Play this week, is basically deploying a proxy that routes data through its own servers where the information is compressed by up to 50% and optimized.
