Mobile control of home functions seen as ad opportunity for Google

Google's bid to buy Nest Labs for $3.2 billion could mark a significant expansion of the utility of mobile devices as they increasingly become a way to manage home appliances and other services. Analysts say the acquisition presents Google an opportunity to collect better data and improve mobile advertising. "This development makes Google's monetization strategy more effective -- short term and long term," iProspect Strategy Director Andrea Wilson said.
