Packaging defects prompt recall of cholesterol drug from Merck

Merck has recalled the combination cholesterol drug Liptruzet because of packaging defects. The foil pouches containing the pills could let moisture and air inside, possibly reducing the efficacy of the drug, the company said. The move affects the four dose strengths of Liptruzet as well as all batches released since May.
