FDA issues advisory on risks of medical-device fragments

The FDA has posted an advisory on its Web site urging doctors and health care providers to thoroughly inspect medical devices for damage before and after their use in procedures. Medical-technology companies expressed support for the agency's recommendations and reiterated their commitment to provide patients and doctors with safe and effective medical devices, an AdvaMed executive said.
