France says biotech maize ban is temporary

French ministers on Tuesday clarified that the government's ban on the cultivation of Monsanto Co.'s MON 810 biotech maize is only temporary and would last until a re-evaluation of the crop is released by European regulators. French Education Minister Valerie Pecresse and Environment Minister Jean-Louis Borloo said biotechnology advances, especially in farming, are important for the country.
