Microsoft has applied for a patent for a "unique monitoring system" that reportedly would allow employers to gauge their workers' job performance by checking their vital signs through the use of wireless sensors that track heart rate, body temperature, blood pressure and other metabolic benchmarks. The technology is raising concerns among unions, civil liberties groups and privacy advocates, according to this article. Microsoft did not comment on the details of the patent application.
