UPMC piloting six "smart rooms"

The University of Pittsburgh Medical Center is testing "smart rooms" with computer screens that display patient information, identify health professionals entering the room and emphasize hand washing. "We believe this technology will enhance patient safety, allow clinicians to spend more time at the bedside and simplify the jobs of health care workers," the project's leader says.
