Crew members of US Airways Flight 1549 are being hailed as heroes after quick thinking and flawless execution prevented even a single death in Thursday's splashdown. Capt. Chesley Sullenberger, a certified glider pilot, maneuvered his Airbus A320 across Manhattan and over the George Washington Bridge, then touched down on the Hudson River slowly enough to prevent the plane from breaking up. "It was just the right pilot at the right time in charge of that plane that saved so many lives," said a friend and neighbor from Danville, Calif.
