Report: Keep advanced teachers in classrooms with better pay, status

Alabama teachers would be able to earn higher pay and status without moving out of the classroom under a proposal recommended by the Commission on Quality Teaching, which was appointed by Alabama Gov. Bob Riley. The commission's report recommended five levels: apprentice teacher, classroom teacher, professional teacher, master teacher and learning designer.
