Report: U.S. still behind in pandemic preparedness

U.S. states have done well in stockpiling drugs and preparing vaccines for a possible flu pandemic, but they continue to lag behind in other aspects, such as adequate transportation plans and surge capacity for hospitals, according to a report from the HHS. Experts also say the economic slowdown will affect pandemic preparedness efforts as the government reduces federal funding for such programs.
