England relaxes rules for disciplining students

Teachers in England no longer have to notify parents 24 hours in advance when they plan to keep students after school for detention. Officials say the change, which was implemented this week, will make students more accountable for their behaviour in school. The new rules follow calls from educators for more power to discipline students.
