Firms from myriad sectors expect tax breaks to keep going

U.S. companies profiting from $30 billion in tax breaks are hoping to get a smooth ride through Congress when payroll-tax legislation expires. A long list of preferential tax provisions, for companies including rum distillers, NASCAR racetrack owners and big banks, has been sailing through Congress with backing from both parties for years.
