Okla. proposes heightened accountability in NCLB waiver request

Oklahoma schools chief Janet Barresi is proposing an accountability system for the state's schools that would give each school an A to F letter grade based on student improvement on standardized tests. The proposal is part of the state's bid for a waiver from some of the requirements of No Child Left Behind. Also included is a plan to implement Common Core State Standards throughout Oklahoma schools and provisions to take over schools labeled as chronically failing.
