WestJet plans regional carrier to compete with Air Canada

WestJet Airlines is banking on lower fares to help its new regional carrier compete with Air Canada in 2012. The new WestJet service will rely on 40 turboprops to provide short-haul flights between smaller cities and major hubs. The airline broke news of the service to its employees this week.
