Calif. city council is set to prohibit plastic bags

Glendale, Calif., is expected to join Laguna Beach, Los Angeles and Pasadena in banning plastic shopping bags, after City Council members expressed unanimous support. If the ordinance passes next week, it will be enforced at grocers, farmers markets, events on city property and events sponsored by the city. The ordinance would also force establishments to charge 10 cents for paper bags.
