Baltimore zoning overhaul focuses on creating walkable city

Baltimore is rewriting its zoning codes so that development will encourage people to walk and live a healthier lifestyle. Officials will consider the design of curbs and curb cuts, sidewalks, and landscaping, as well as the proximity of commercial space and residential housing. Philadelphia recently conducted an overhaul of the zoning code and created a Healthy Communities Coordinator position for both the health and planning departments.
